Tortuga Bay beach, located in the Galapagos Islands, has been selected as one of the 25 best beaches in the world by the website portal Trip Advisor for its “Travelers Choice” Awards.
Just 20 minutes from the small village of Puerto Ayora in Santa Cruz, this beach got its name because it’s a nesting site for sea turtles. The white sand here and the sightings of species such as sea lions, marine iguanas, pelicans, flamingos and seagulls, among others, make this place unique in America and the world.
TripAdvisor’s selection was based on the comments and votes of the site’s users. Tortuga Bay was rated “excellent” by travelers who visited it, out of 2,252 comments.
Internet users describe it as a “paradise” that includes a number of alternatives for tourists, such as snorkeling, swimming and surfing, surrounded by rays, sharks and an abundance of distinctly colored marine fauna.
